Mastering Renewable Power
Event Details

Overview

In increasing parts of the world, renewable power sources – particularly solar and wind – are now the cheapest way to generate electricity. This, combined with being crucial mechanisms by which to lower the carbon emissions of energy systems, means they are also the fastest growing supply of new power generating capacity.

This course is designed for those seeking a comprehensive understanding of renewable power, from its market value to the processes of project and investment case development, and risk assessment. You will have a clearly explained review of renewable power trends and project development essentials; including key stages, processes, contracts and risk mitigation approaches. As a commercially-focused person, you need to have these issues discussed within a business case and investment context, illustrated by examples from around the world. You will build a knowledge base and skillset that is applicable to power projects of multiple types, so that it remains useful wherever

your career next takes you.

Smart Grid Forums – CyberAware Webinar Series

Navigating the Threat-Scape

Webinar

28 April 2021

The past year has seen a sharp rise in cyberattacks against the power grid, with sophisticated social engineering tactics being leveraged to open new doorways into the grid. With a hyperconnected power grid now the norm, and the trend toward WFH and BYOD gaining momentum, power grid technical workforces and the infrastructure they protect, are more accessible and susceptible to the damaging effects of nation state actors, ransomware attackers and hacking enthusiasts, than ever before.

This 60-minute webinar on Navigating the Threat-Scape deep-dives into the lessons learnt from the most recent cyberattacks on power grid infrastructures, providing insights into how cybercrime groups are evolving, re-organising and honing their skills to enable higher-stakes activities.

Through a series of presentations and panel discussions we quantify the risk and predict the nature of the attacks that are likely to be launched on complex IT and OT converged infrastructures in the next 2-3 years. And, we identify the organisational, workforce and technical strategies urgently required to strengthen your cybersecurity posture and enable you to get ahead, and stay ahead, of the threat.

By getting to know the adversary inside out, and being able to predict their every move, power grid cybersecurity and engineering teams stand a much better chance of building and maintaining infrastructures that are both secure-by-design, and adaptive to the demands of a more malicious threat landscape

Electricity Economics in Changing Electricity Markets
Event Details

Overview

Are you ready for the new challenges & opportunities as power markets around the world evolve?

This is an essential course both for those generating and trading electricity and for those responsible for policy within the power industry. It leads you through a clear, accessible and thorough examination of the economics of power generation, from power plant cost influences to end-customer prices. It contextualises this analysis with key consideration of industry drivers and trends, including increasingly liberalised and competitive markets, evolving policy support and management frameworks, the growth and integration of renewable power sources, and the restructuring of power systems towards more decentralised operations.

The presenter allows for and encourages plenty of Q&A and discusses the issues from multiple stakeholder perspectives; including power plant owners, investors, policymakers and energy customers. This online course is an essential primer for those seeking to navigate successful business routes through transitioning electricity systems.
